Your system could be leaking for many reasons. condensation from the coils of the indoor section of your system should be pumped out or drained into a drip tray. It's safe to assume, if excess water is leaking down your walls, that the condensate has not been drained. Sometimes, the drain hole can become blocked with dirt. In these cases the water will find the easiest way to drain away. If the condensate is not being removed with the help of a pump, it is possible that the pump has failed. This will need to be replaced quickly. We often find that coils have become so clogged with dirt that they block the drainage system. A dislodged drain pipe can cause a leak. The water will flow upwards and back into your unit. It's easy to correct the angle of the drainage pipes in this instance. In more severe cases, if the system has leaking a lot of refrigerant, it can cause the indoor unit's coils to "ice up", which will lead to leakage when the water melts. It is important to immediately turn off the unit if you see ice on the coils. To avoid these common problems, its always best to properly maintain your aircon system on a regular basis. Whether that's each year or every two years, it's not only prolonging the lifespan of the unit but also ensuring the air it circulates around your home is clean and mould/odour free.
